National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar is seeking applications from motivated and eligible candidates for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF). The JRF will work on a research project titled “Seismic Wave-based Tools for the Characterization of Small-Strain Stiffness, Damping, and Anisotropy of Soils in the Laboratory,” which is funded by the Science & Engineering Research Board (SERB), Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. The project has a duration of 1.5 years.

Eligibility Criteria:
- Essential Qualification:
- B.Tech. in Civil Engineering
- M.E./M.Tech. in Civil Engineering/Geotechnical Engineering/Mining Engineering/Allied disciplines from a recognized university with a minimum of 70% or 7.0 CPI/CGPA (Preference given to GATE-qualified candidates).
- Desirable Qualifications:
- Candidates with knowledge of laboratory geotechnical testing
- Numerical modeling & simulation of geotechnical structures
- Familiarity with the latest data acquisition systems and interpretation, etc.
Fellowship: The selected candidate will receive a monthly fellowship of Rs. 31,000/- (plus 16% HRA as admissible) for 1.5 years.
Additional Opportunities:
- The selected candidate may be considered for admission to the Ph.D. program as a regular full-time scholar, depending on the eligibility criteria of NIT Srinagar and available extended funding.
- The initial appointment will be for one year, which is extendable up to 1.5 years or the end of the project based on performance. The selected candidate will be required to sign a service bond for a period of 1 year.

Screening & Interview Process:
Candidates will be shortlisted based on their merit and project requirements. Meeting the eligibility criteria does not guarantee shortlisting. Please note that no TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview in physical mode.
