J&K Govt teachers under scanner for submitting fake degrees: Fake Degree Scam.

The government has uncovered hundreds of teachers are under scrutiny for getting jobs by providing fake degrees according to sources, the government has begun investigating.

Sources have said that the administration has initiated an investigation to review the qualifications of suspected teachers working for the department of education for a long time.

“These degrees were obtained via distance learning at various private institutions, but they aren’t valid. There are hundreds of teachers whose certificates of degree are being checked by the department of education,” sources have added.

“There are numerous teachers with degrees that are questionable. Teachers have earned their degrees by paying smaller universities, without ever going to classes. The administration is currently doing its task to check the credentials. When the report is completed it will be followed by action,” sources said.

“These teachers are employed in numerous schools at the secondary as well as higher secondary levels. They have received benefits that are comparable to teachers who were hired after qualifying exams as well as various exams,” sources said.

The administration is launching a campaign to cleanse the department of education and find the teachers who obtained positions through shady methods.

“It is the order of the government to eliminate fraud and enhance the working of the departments that are government-run. There are several measures being taken to enhance the functioning of the department of education before National Education Policy is formally put into effect, ” officials said.

In addition, the government this year initiated disciplinary action against teachers for not following the rules and regulations.

Director School Education Kashmir recently issued an indictment against the Joint Director SCERT Kashmir for indulging in corrupt transfer practices and extorting cash from teachers to remove names from the list of dismissals during his time as the CEO of Anantnag.
